What is a shock boot?
A shock dust boot is used to protect the shock rod from rocks and other debris, particularly on the highway, so in many cases manufacturers determine that the boot is unnecessary because the shock is protected by other suspension components.
What does a bad strut look like?
You'll notice the front end of your vehicle rising while the rear “squats” during hard acceleration. Tires bouncing excessively. After hitting a bump, you can feel a tire (or tires) reacting or “bouncing” for a time. You may also hear a clunking noise.
Where do shock boots go?
You are supposed to put the boot on before you put the bar pin(the two-way fork for the bolts) in the bushing. It would just slide over the shock shaft. If you do alot of mudding, one thing you should do is drill a couple holes at the bottom of the boot. This will allow water and debris to escape.
